At the World Robot Conference in Beijing, a Chinese startup called DaxAI Robotics introduced a four-legged robot horse named Qiji X1. The device can transport a person or a humanoid figure seated in its saddle, pointing toward new directions in personal mobility. Legged machines like this are drawing increasing interest for their ability to move where wheeled platforms struggle.
Specs and Abilities
Instead of wheels or tracks, Qiji X1 relies on mechanical limbs with joints. The rider sits in a specially designed seat and steers using handles located near the front of the machine. With an impressive payload capacity of 300 kilograms, the platform can handle both people and heavy loads.
During a floor demonstration inside the exhibition hall, Qiji X1 successfully navigated uneven surfaces, proving it can operate in challenging environments. DaxAI Robotics was established around 2025 by engineer Wang Kun and artificial intelligence specialist Xu Wenqiang. The company focuses on mobility systems for areas where wheeled vehicles cannot go.
“Qiji X1 goes far beyond typical robot dogs—carrying a passenger lets us test the idea of a personal vehicle for the future,” said the DaxAI Robotics development team.
