Klychko instructed to provide hot meals for lonely Kyiv residents due to power outages

Внаслідок відключень електроенергії Кличко звернув увагу на необхідність забезпечення гарячим харчуванням мешканців столиці, що залишились без підтримки.

Providing hot meals for lonely people and persons with disabilities

The Mayor of Kyiv Vitali Klychko has instructed to provide hot meals for lonely elderly people and persons with disabilities due to the introduction of power outage schedules in Ukraine. This decision has become necessary due to the consequences of Russian attacks that led to shelling of energy facilities. Since January 13, power outage schedules have been in effect in Ukraine, complicating the lives of many citizens, especially those who require additional support.

The Department of Social and Veteran Policy of the Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA) will be responsible for organizing hot meals. Service is provided once a day. Public transport has also been suspended on the Right Bank, complicating the movement of residents. Authorities have launched duplicate bus routes to alleviate transportation problems.

Call for help

In a situation where about 500 high-rise buildings remain without heat, Klychko urged citizens to contact the call center 1551 or the district administration if they know of lonely elderly people or persons with limited mobility who need support.

'If you know that a lonely elderly person, a person with limited mobility, or a person with disabilities lives near you and needs help, please notify either the Contact Center 1551 or your district administration,' – Vitali Klychko.

This decision reflects the Kyiv authorities' desire to support the most vulnerable segments of the population amid the energy crisis resulting from military actions. The importance of ensuring hot meals for lonely people and persons with disabilities becomes particularly relevant in the context of power outages, which can complicate access to food and other vital needs. Authorities are also taking measures to improve transportation to facilitate the movement of residents in conditions of limited electrical resources.
