Kyiv's Response to Heavy Snowfall

Kyiv's road services are operating at an intensified level due to heavy snowfall. Mayor Vitali Klitschko personally inspected the snow-clearing equipment in action. To ensure roads were cleared effectively, the municipal enterprise Kyivavtodor deployed its machinery onto the streets in the evening, even before the precipitation began.

On February 15, the capital was blanketed with snow, leading to a restriction on the entry of large trucks and oversized vehicles into Kyiv starting at 10:00 PM that same day. A fleet of 216 specialized vehicles is currently working on the city's highways to clear the roads. The primary focus for clearing operations includes major thoroughfares, bridges, overpasses, and steep inclines and declines.

Ongoing Efforts by Road Services

Despite the challenging weather conditions, road crews continue their work to ensure safety and accessibility for all drivers. This winter weather event highlights the critical importance of municipal preparedness for severe conditions in major European cities.

The restrictions on large vehicles underscore the necessity for traffic control to prevent accidents and major congestion. The efficiency of the equipment and the rapid response of utility services play a vital role in safeguarding residents during such weather events.
