Address by the Mayor of Kyiv
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klychko urged residents to leave the city due to the critical state of the infrastructure. This decision was made as a result of a massive combined strike by the Russian Federation on critical infrastructure facilities on the night of January 9. As a result of the attack, about 6 thousand apartment buildings were left without heating, making life difficult for the capital's residents.
Klychko also urged Kyiv residents to refrain from traveling around the city on January 9, as the situation is extremely complex. In conditions of no heat in apartments and low temperatures, such actions may threaten the health and safety of people. The discussion of social equality and survival opportunities in light of these events continues in society.
Different opinions of Kyiv residents
Social media is filled with varying opinions about the possibility of leaving the city. One user, Gasya Oksiukovska, shared her experience, noting that she was unable to open the automatic gate since it had frozen. Volodymyr Sargsyan cited examples of people who have well-equipped country houses, emphasizing that suggestions to move to the village are becoming more frequent. Another commentator, Volodymyr Sheredega, strongly recommends leaving for Desna and Honcharivske immediately.
Thus, the situation in Kyiv remains critical, and the city's mayor calls for residents to exercise caution and understand that the infrastructure needs urgent restoration.
This situation highlights not only the seriousness of current threats to urban infrastructure but also the impact of war on the daily lives of Kyiv residents. During an emergency, it is important to consider the needs of the population, including socially vulnerable groups who may have limited access to alternative accommodation or resources. The government and local authorities must take measures to ensure the safety of residents and restore critical infrastructure as quickly as possible.
