Coalition to Hold Video Conference

A coalition of nations supporting Ukraine will convene a video conference on Tuesday, February 24, marking the anniversary of the Russian Federation's full-scale invasion. French President Emmanuel Macron will chair the meeting, with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer serving as co-chair. This event represents a significant step in the collaboration between countries backing Ukraine during the ongoing war. The summit underscores the continued Western commitment to Ukraine's defense as the conflict enters another year.

This follows an earlier in-person meeting of coalition leaders in Paris on January 6, which was also attended by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. A statement titled 'Reliable Security Assurances for a Strong and Lasting Peace in Ukraine' was released after that gathering. The document reaffirms the coalition's dedication to achieving a just and lasting peace for Ukraine, in line with the principles of the United Nations Charter.

Coalition Strategy and International Backing

The coalition's core strategy remains focused on providing Ukraine with necessary resources and intensifying sanctions pressure on the Russian economy. Members, including representatives from Ukraine and the United States, have stressed that Ukraine's ability to defend itself is critical for ensuring the future collective security of both Ukraine and the Euro-Atlantic region. The February 24 video conference will serve as a platform to discuss next steps in supporting Ukraine and bolstering international security.

This high-level virtual meeting marks a pivotal moment, as participating nations continue to shape a unified response to Russian aggression. In the face of persistent threats to regional stability, coordinated action and sustained international support are seen as vital factors that will influence the course of events in Ukraine. Strengthening security assistance and maintaining economic sanctions remain key tools in countering Russia's actions.
