Meeting of the 'Coalition of the Willing' leaders in Paris

Leaders of the 'Coalition of the Willing' met on January 6 in Paris to discuss security guarantees for Ukraine and commitments to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine. During the meeting, attended by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, a declaration of intent to deploy a multinational military contingent in Ukraine after a ceasefire was signed.

The members of the 'Coalition of the Willing' emphasized that Ukraine's ability to defend itself is critically important for ensuring the future of collective security for Ukraine and the Euro-Atlantic region. They also noted that ensuring Ukraine's sovereignty and lasting security must be an integral part of any peace agreement.

Key aspects of the initiative

As part of this initiative, the participants discussed several key aspects. Among them were:

  • participation in a monitoring and verification mechanism for a ceasefire under U.S. leadership,
  • support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine,
  • deployment of multinational forces for Ukraine,
  • commitments to provide support to Ukraine in the event of a future armed attack.

Moreover, the members of the coalition expressed their intention to deepen long-term cooperation with Ukraine in the field of defense.

This meeting was an important step in strengthening international support for Ukraine and forming a plan of action for the future regarding security and stability in the region.

The planned deployment of a multinational military contingent in Ukraine after a ceasefire underscores the international community's commitment to support the country in its aspiration for security and sovereignty.
