In Ukraine, the 2025/2026 academic year will officially last until June 30, however, the dates for summer vacations will be determined by the schools themselves. Therefore, students in different regions will go on vacation at different times. This is reported by TSN.
Summer vacations 2026: when will classes end
According to a government resolution, the academic year started on September 1, 2025, and is scheduled to conclude on June 30, 2026. At the same time, this date is a maximum limit, not obligatory for all educational institutions.
The Ministry of Education and Science explains that each school independently determines:
- the date of the end of classes;
- the day of the last bell;
- the start of summer vacation.
The decision is made by the teaching board, considering the educational load, safety situation, and the state of students and teachers.
Academic year in Ukraine: why vacations may differ
Despite the fact that traditionally education ends at the end of May, deviations from the usual schedule are possible in 2026.
Reasons for different vacation dates:
- the influence of the security situation in regions;
- interruptions in power supply in winter;
- the necessity to catch up with the educational program.
According to government recommendations, summer vacation may approximately begin on June 1, but final dates are established locally.
Thus, some students may finish their studies already at the end of May, while others will study until June, depending on the circumstances in a specific region.
