Former Recruitment Center Employee Arrested in Lutsk for Bribery and Fake Medical Certificates

Колишнього працівника центру набору затримано в Луцьку за підозрою у хабарництві та підробці медичних довідок.

Arrest in Lutsk

Law enforcement officers in Lutsk have apprehended a 46-year-old former employee of the Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center (TRC). The arrest on February 11 occurred as she was caught red-handed receiving an unlawful benefit of $10,000 from a conscript. The payment was for arranging the creation of medical documents containing a fictitious diagnosis to evade military service. This case highlights ongoing challenges with corruption in Ukraine's mobilization system during the ongoing war.

Legal Consequences

Following her detention, the woman was notified of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This article carries a potential penalty of 3 to 8 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property. The investigation into the case is currently ongoing.

Similar incidents are not isolated to Lutsk. Recently in Kyiv, a 41-year-old man was detained for analogous activities. Military Ombudsman Olha Reshetilova has also emphasized the critical importance of combating corruption within the military service sphere.

This incident underscores the severity of the problem of military service evasion in Ukraine, an issue that has become especially acute under martial law.

The efforts of law enforcement agencies are focused on identifying and punishing individuals who attempt to exploit the system to avoid fulfilling their military duty. The situation indicates a pressing need for enhanced control over relevant processes and the prevention of corrupt schemes in this area.
