Former UFC fighter died in Brazil: body found at the bottom of the river

In Brazil, on the Negro River in the state of Amazonas, former mixed martial arts fighter Jeronimo dos Santos, known by the nickname 'Mondragon', tragically passed away at the age of 45. The incident occurred during the athlete's water recreation, and the search operation lasted two days, after which his body was found at the bottom of the river.



It has been noted that on the beach where the tragedy occurred, there are sudden drops of sandy shore with depths of up to 15 meters and strong underwater currents, complicating swimming. The municipality of San Gabriel da Cachoeira issued an official warning to locals and tourists about the dangers.



Professional career and latest achievements


Jeronimo dos Santos is a well-known fighter in the MMA world, his career lasted over 15 years with 45 victories in 72 fights. In his last match, he knocked out his opponent in less than two minutes. The athlete also had experience working as deputy secretary of public security in the city. In 2012, Jeronimo signed a contract with the UFC, but due to health issues, he did not have time to fight and ended his partnership with the promoter.



It should be noted that a few years ago, MMA champion Maikel Falcao, who was also of Ukrainian descent, was murdered in Brazil.


Jeronimo dos Santos, known as 'Mondragon', died at the age of 45 while swimming in the Negro River. He was an outstanding MMA fighter with an impressive career that lasted over 15 years. The tragedy was a shock to martial arts fans around the world.
