Former Ukraine national team player Andriy Polunin has died: details of the tragedy

Yesterday, November 15, at the age of 55, former Ukraine national football player Andriy Viktorovych Polunin passed away. This information was reported by the publication 'Hlavkom' referring to 'Metalist 1925'. The incident occurred after a veterans' match in Lutsk, in which Polunin himself participated.



Path of the athlete


Andriy Viktorovych is known for his football career, playing for teams 'Dnipro', 'Kryvbas', 'Karpaty', 'CSKA', as well as German clubs 'Nuremberg', 'St. Pauli', and 'Rot Weiss'. He played 9 matches and scored 1 goal for the Ukraine national team. After finishing his career on the field, he continued to work in football, holding various positions in clubs. Since early 2025, Polunin served as the chief scout of 'Metalist 1925'.

Unfortunately, it was also announced the death of Ukrainian athlete Vitaliy Rymaruk, who served in the National Guard of Ukraine. Vitaliy died in the Pokrovsk direction in the Donetsk region, leaving behind a wife and a young daughter. We wish peace to their family in this difficult time.
