Assassination attempt on businessman Timur Mindich

In the Shevchenkivskyi District Court in Kyiv, oligarch Ihor Kolomoisky stated about an assassination attempt on businessman Timur Mindich, which occurred in Israel on November 28. According to Kolomoisky, it was an assassination attempt that resulted in a domestic worker being injured. The attackers were detained.

Timur Mindich is a co-owner of the 'Kvartal-95' studio and a former business partner of President Volodymyr Zelensky. In November of this year, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) conducted an operation named 'Midas'. During this operation, a criminal group demanding kickbacks of 10-15% of the contract value from the contractors of the state enterprise 'Energoatom' was uncovered. It is known that about 100 million dollars passed through a so-called 'laundry' in central Kyiv.

Government Reaction and Consequences

Timur Mindich left Ukraine a few hours before the searches conducted as part of NABU's operational actions. Mindich’s influence extended to former Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko and former Defense Minister Rustem Umerov. In response to the situation, President Zelensky imposed sanctions against Mindich and businessman Tsukerman. Ukraine's Prime Minister Denys Svyrydenko initiated the dismissal of Halushchenko and Energy Minister Hrynchuk. NABU also conducted searches in 'Naftogaz'.

This situation highlights the growing tension in the Ukrainian business environment and the intensification of anti-corruption bodies in the fight against corruption at the highest levels. The assassination attempt on Mindich, who has close ties with high-profile politicians, may indicate serious internal conflicts in Ukraine's business segment. Furthermore, the actions of the president and the government regarding the introduction of sanctions and dismissals indicate an attempt to prevent further abuses in state structures and restore public trust in the government. In the near future, further investigation of this case and possible new revelations in the context of anti-corruption measures in Ukraine can be expected.
