The team of the National Agency for Prevention of Corruption (NAZK), headed by Deputy Head Serhiy Hupyak, visited the Sumy region. During the visit, they discussed preventing corruption in the most risky sectors of the region with local authorities, experts, and law enforcement officials.
While communicating with local government bodies, attention was focused on the most vulnerable to corruption areas. Questions were raised about the restoration of facilities after aggression, construction, procurement, and the distribution of humanitarian aid among security forces.
“We understand that for regions like Sumy, the main task is to provide a decent standard of living for the population in times of conflict. However, the visit of the NAZK team was initiated by local authorities, civil society, and law enforcement agencies, as everyone understands that protecting against corruption remains important even in times of war,” emphasized Serhiy Hupyak.
The head of the Sumy regional state administration, Oleg Grygorov, stressed the importance of the advice received regarding the implementation of anti-corruption measures and confirmed the willingness of regional authorities to change legislation to reduce corruption risks.
The head of the regional council, Oleksiy Romanyk, also expressed his support for the visit of the NAZK, considering it useful for further cooperation and reporting to the community on efforts to combat corruption.
As a result of the NAZK's visit to Sumy, constructive meetings were held with local government structures, highlighting the importance of preventing corruption in conflict situations and supporting readiness for cooperation in this direction.
