Compensation for housing rent: who among military personnel and veterans is entitled to payments

In Ukraine, military personnel and veterans can receive compensation for housing rent. The press service of the Ministry of Veterans clarified the conditions and categories of persons entitled to such assistance. Payments are provided for:

  • military personnel after mobilization,
  • veterans with the status of combatants (UBD) or disabilities due to war,
  • police officers and rescuers.

Compensation is granted in cases where the defender's housing is destroyed or damaged, if the veteran undergoes rehabilitation more than 15 kilometers away from their place of residence, or for internally displaced veterans who do not have their own housing. This allows support for those who have faced difficulties due to war.

Amount of compensation

The amount of compensation depends on the locality. In the cities of Kyiv, Dnipro, Lviv, and Odesa, the amount of payments is 6056 hryvnias. For regional centers, 4542 hryvnias are provided, and for other localities – 3028 hryvnias. This helps veterans and military personnel receive the necessary funds to cover housing rent expenses.

An application for compensation can be submitted to the structural unit dealing with veteran policy or to the nearest Administrative Services Center (ASC). This will simplify the application process and provide an opportunity for those in need to receive financial support.

The introduction of compensation for housing rent for military personnel and veterans is an important step in supporting those affected by the consequences of war.

Such measures can significantly alleviate the financial burden for those who have lost their housing or need additional assistance during rehabilitation. Given the continuation of the conflict, state support in the form of financial payments is becoming increasingly relevant as it helps to ensure stability and dignity in the lives of those who defended the country.
