A resident of Munich spends an average of 370 euros per month on basic utilities, making the German city the most expensive in the world in this regard. This data is contained in the Deutsche Bank report 'Global Price Map', which analyzed 67 cities worldwide, including 28 in Europe.

The study indicates that almost all of the 20 most expensive cities in the world for basic utility costs are located on the European continent. Only two mega-cities outside Europe made it to the top twenty. Overall, monthly basic utility expenses for an 85 m² apartment range from 24 euros in Cairo to 370 euros in Munich.

Among the most expensive cities in Europe, after Munich, are Edinburgh (346 euros), Berlin (333 euros), and Frankfurt (339 euros). The top 10 also includes Warsaw, Vienna, London, Prague, Amsterdam, and Oslo. Meanwhile, the most affordable city by this indicator in Europe is Istanbul, where expenses are only 68 euros per month.

Compared to other cities worldwide, Munich stands out as a leader in utility costs, placing it in a challenging situation regarding housing prices for local residents.
