Ukrainian Forces Retake Over 300 Square Kilometers in Southern Counteroffensive

Українські війська звільнили значні території на півдні, відновивши контроль над понад 300 квадратними кілометрами землі.

Ukrainian Military Regains Ground in Southern Counteroffensive

Ukrainian assault units have successfully executed counteroffensive operations along the border of the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions, pushing back Russian forces. This southern offensive, which began around mid-January, involved combat near the settlements of Ternove and Kalynivske in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, where Ukrainian troops are engaged in active defense and efforts to retake populated areas. This action is part of Ukraine's broader strategy to disrupt Russian momentum and reclaim its territory.

Russian forces have heavily relied on air power to counter these Ukrainian advances. On this section of the front, the following was recorded:

  • Over 20 airstrikes by assault and army aviation using guided aerial bombs;
  • More than 40 unguided aircraft rockets.

The Ukrainian Air Assault Forces grouping is conducting an active operation in the Olexandrivka direction. The primary objective of this operation is to disrupt the Russian Federation's plans for advancing further into Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia oblasts.

Territory Recaptured in Zaporizhzhia Region

On the Huliaipole and adjacent directions in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, Ukrainian defenders have restored control over an area exceeding 300 square kilometers. This has improved the tactical position of the Defense Forces on the southern front, particularly in the zone near the settlements of Vyshneve, Verbove, and Ternove.

"Thanks to successful actions, we managed to push back the enemy," noted Vladyslav Voloshyn, commenting on the operation's results.

The successful actions of Ukrainian troops in the south demonstrate their capacity to effectively respond to threats and regain control of strategically important territories. These results could influence the overall situation on the front, particularly in the context of the Russian Federation's plans for further advancement, underscoring the importance of continued support and resource provision for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The improved tactical position may also serve as a springboard for further offensive actions in the region.
