Panic in Kyiv After Short Circuit at Zvirynetska Metro Station

Переляк у Києві після короткого замикання на станції метро Звіринецька.

Incident at Zvirynetska Metro Station

A reported explosion in the passageway of Kyiv's Zvirynetska metro station turned out to be a short circuit in the electrical wiring of a technical shaft beneath the underground walkway. Police confirmed there was no fire, no suspicious objects were found, and no injuries occurred. The station and its passage remain fully operational without disruptions.

Kyiv Metro's Digital Transition

As a reminder, the Kyiv metro system fully switched to a digital operating model on April 28. This shift led to the closure of ticket offices at three stations: Vokzalna, Pochayna, and Vydubychi. Despite the incident at Zvirynetska, residents and visitors can continue using the metro as usual, with no changes to service schedules.

The short circuit at Zvirynetska happened against the backdrop of the metro's broader transition to new technologies, a move expected to enhance system safety and efficiency. The swift response from police and municipal services demonstrates readiness to handle emergencies. The situation is under control, and metro operations remain stable—a key factor for passenger safety.
