Specialized prosecutors dealing with defense-related cases do not overlook attempts at corruption. They detect crimes related to the receipt of illegal benefits, abuse of office, and unlawful influence on decisions regarding mobilization and military service, reports the Office of the Prosecutor General. Recent detentions and notifications of suspicion indicate significant successes by prosecutors:
- In the central region, a chief specialist of a state enterprise specializing in communication was detained and notified of suspicion for demanding 36 thousand US dollars for justifying a conscript from service.
- In Vinnytsia, a citizen was detained and notified of suspicion for receiving 18 thousand US dollars for pressuring members of the medical commission to declare a serviceman unfit for duty.
- In Odesa, a citizen was detained who paid 10 thousand US dollars to influence SBU employees for obtaining a position.
Such actions by prosecutors confirm that corruption in the army will not go unpunished. Anyone attempting to abuse power for personal gain will become subject to legal accountability - this is the main message from the Office of the Prosecutor General.
