Kovalchuk won the gold at the European Championship in modern pentathlon

Ukrainian Yuriy Kovalchuk won the championship title at the European Championship in modern pentathlon, scoring 1588 points. The competition took place in the capital of Spain, Madrid, where Kovalchuk became the champion on the European podium for the second consecutive time. Last year, Alexander Tovkay was the winner.


The silver medal in this competition was won by Mihaly Koleszar from Hungary, while the bronze medal went to Frenchman Jean-Baptiste Mursiy. Ukrainian team member Danila Sych took fifth place in the tournament.

Yuriy Kovalchuk's victory at the European Championship was his first at the adult level after he became the best in the U24 age category in 2022.


Additionally, Ukrainian judoka Khazar Heydarov won the gold medal in the under 60 kg weight category at the XVIII European Youth Olympic Festival in Skopje. He demonstrated impressive results and won the final bout.
