Every fourth Kyivite has increased electricity consumption during outages: YASNO data

Кожен четвертий мешканець Києва помітив зростання використання електроенергії під час відключень, згідно з даними YASNO.

Increase in electricity consumption in Kyiv

Every fourth Kyivite has increased their light consumption during outages. This data was announced by the General Director of YASNO, Serhiy Kovalenko. Despite many hours of power outages, 26% of Kyiv residents decided to increase their electricity consumption in November. At the same time, 20% of the capital's residents maintained their consumption at the previous level, while 54% decreased it. Overall, the average electricity consumption in the city has fallen by 20%.

Reasons for the increase in consumption

Among the reasons that influenced the increase in electricity consumption, we can highlight:

  • cold weather
  • 'catch-up' effect
  • changes in daily life
  • 'charging fever'

These factors prompted some Kyivites to significantly increase their electricity use despite the restrictions.

In this regard, experts recommend several ways to reduce electricity costs. Among them:

  • total disconnection of devices
  • reducing the use of boilers
  • implementing smart heating
  • using kitchen life hacks
  • optimizing laundry processes

Moreover, proper handling of inverters can also significantly reduce consumption. Experts advise conducting energy-intensive processes from the grid and starting devices one at a time to avoid overloading the power grid.

Thus, the situation with electricity consumption in Kyiv remains complicated, and residents should consider these recommendations to optimize costs.

The increase in electricity consumption in Kyiv against the background of outages indicates the complexity of the energy situation in the region. Despite efforts to reduce costs, a certain part of the population still reacts to changes in weather and household needs, which can complicate the overall situation with energy supply. Experts emphasize the importance of implementing rational approaches to electricity use to avoid further problems with energy provision and to reduce the load on the grid.
