The new US Ambassador to the UN, Mike Waltz, made a categorical statement about America and its allies' readiness to defend NATO territories after Russia's violation of airspace. During an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council, Waltz reacted strongly to the incursion of Russian aircraft into Estonian airspace.
'The United States and our allies will defend every inch of NATO territory,' Waltz declared.
The diplomat noted that this incursion occurred just nine days after a similar situation involving drones in Poland. Waltz called on Russia to cease such behavior and not to risk further escalation of the conflict.
The ambassador levied serious accusations regarding the motives behind Russia's actions. He believes that such events could escalate the conflict with Ukraine or indicate that Russia is losing control over its drones and aircraft. Waltz stated that both scenarios are very troubling.
The ambassador urged Russia to uphold international peace, respect the sovereignty of neighboring countries, and stop violating their airspace. He also emphasized the need for direct negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv to resolve the conflict.
