Evgenia Chikunova commented on her result at the World Aquatics Championships

Russian athlete Evgenia Chikunova, known for her support of the war against Ukraine, shared her impressions of her performance at the World Aquatics Championships in the 100m breaststroke. In the finals, the 20-year-old swimmer finished fifth with a time of 1 minute 06.04 seconds. The gold medal was won by Germany's Anna Ehlend, who showed a time of 1:05.19.

«A time of 1:06.04 is cringe, to put it that way. Last year I swam 1:05 something. Swimming 1:06 is disappointing for me, I won't lie. But anything can happen, and I don't want to be too critical of myself immediately. I need to take a breath, see what can be improved. I still don't know why the 'hundred' is not going well this year,» Chikunova stated.

Recall that Evgenia Chikunova expressed her support for the war and President Putin on Instagram by liking posts from swimmer and war supporter Evgeny Rylov. In one of the posts, the athlete emphasized that he supports his president in actions to prevent threats at the borders.

In her statement, Chikunova discussed her feelings about her performance at the World Aquatics Championships and responded to criticism regarding her time. The athlete acknowledged a drop in form but expressed confidence in her abilities and readiness for further improvements.
