Ukraine and Britain discuss billion-dollar investments in critical minerals

On December 1, a roundtable on the development of the critical minerals sector was held in London with the participation of the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine and the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office of Great Britain (FCDO). The event was dedicated to discussing opportunities for the extraction and processing of critical minerals in Ukraine, as well as attracting British business and institutional capital.



The event took place within the framework of London Mining Week and the international conference Resourcing Tomorrow and is part of Ukraine's systematic dialogue with international partners in the field of critical minerals.



Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine Yegor Perelygin, representatives of FCDO led by Minister for Europe, North America and Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty, DFC representative Jonathan Taylor, as well as representatives of business, financial institutions and insurance, law and those involved in the mining sector participated in the roundtable.


The Ukrainian side presented key approaches of the updated strategy for the development of the critical minerals sector, the current state of preparation for investment projects, and possible formats for cooperation with Great Britain.



During the discussion, a number of potential investment projects were also presented, including in partnership with the US-Ukraine Reconstruction Fund.



The meeting in London increased cooperation between Ukraine and Great Britain in the field of extraction and processing of critical minerals, opening new opportunities for both countries in this important industry.
