Global tourism has already recovered from the pandemic, as seen from the updated statistical data. In 2024, the number of international trips reached 1.47 billion again, returning to previous levels. The UNWTO decided not to leave us in the dark and revealed the top 20 leading countries in tourism.

France takes first place, welcoming 102 million travelers this year. Paris, the French Riviera, and the castles of the Loire Valley continue to charm tourists.

Spain is in second place with a record 94 million visitors. Barcelona, Seville, Madrid, Malaga, Granada, and San Sebastián, along with the islands, are all popular vacation spots.

The United States ranks third with 72.4 million tourists. Cities that offered travelers unforgettable experiences include New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Las Vegas. Turkey holds the fourth position, having attracted 60.6 million guests.

Popular Tourist Destinations

Italy takes fifth place with 57.7 million visitors. Rome, Venice, Milan, Florence, and Rimini remain on the list of must-visit places. Other countries in the top 10 include Japan, Mexico, China, the United Kingdom, and Germany.

Among other popular destinations are Greece, Thailand, Austria, Saudi Arabia, Portugal, Malaysia, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, and India. It is clear that even considering all the difficulties, such as rising prices and economic issues, tourists are not planning to give up their trips.

After the pandemic, global tourism has begun to recover actively, and this is a positive signal for both the tourism industry and the economies of countries that depend on tourist flows. The best visitor figures in popular countries indicate a gradual recovery of travelers' trust and the importance of tourism for many national economies.
