Security Guarantees for Ukraine

Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba identified three main security guarantees for Ukraine in his video on his YouTube channel. He emphasized the importance of systematic arms supplies, Ukraine's membership in the European Union, and the recovery of the country with financial support in the coming years.

Main Guarantees

  • The first guarantee involves systematic, large-scale, and clear arms supplies for the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the USA and the EU. These should not just be general promises but concrete obligations, such as annual supplies:

    • two air defense batteries;
    • 2 million shells;
    • tanks;
    • drones;
    • rockets over the next ten years.

    This will empower the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend the country.

  • The second guarantee Kuleba considers is Ukraine's membership in the European Union.

  • The third guarantee is related to the recovery of Ukraine and its financial support, which will be relevant in the coming years. The former minister also noted that Ukraine will likely not become a NATO member anytime soon.

Kuleba emphasized that the war in Ukraine began in 2014 and escalated into a full-scale invasion by Russia due to Vladimir Putin's belief that Ukraine is a buffer zone that he has the right to seize.

The strength of the Ukrainian army and entrepreneurs is key to ensuring the country's security.

- Dmytro Kuleba

Kuleba's definition of three main security guarantees for Ukraine reflects the current challenges the country faces amid military aggression. Ensuring systematic arms supplies and supporting EU membership can significantly affect Ukraine's ability to protect its territorial integrity and strengthen its economy in the post-war period. These factors are important not only for Ukraine but also for stability in the region as a whole.
