Україна готується до квітневих морозів: температура знижується до -3°C.

Frost Warning Issued for Ukraine

The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center has issued an alert for severe frosts expected across Ukraine this April. A cold spell arriving in the middle of the month will lead to sub-zero temperatures both at ground level and in the air.

Frosts between 0 and -3°C are forecast for the nights of April 9, 10, and 11 at ground level. A Level I (yellow) danger warning has been declared for several regions. Specifically, on the night of April 9, air frosts of 0 to -3°C are predicted for:

  • Eastern regions
  • Chernihiv Oblast
  • Sumy Oblast
  • Poltava Oblast
  • Dnipropetrovsk Oblast
  • Khmelnytskyi Oblast
  • Zhytomyr Oblast
  • Vinnytsia Oblast

Forecast for April 10-11

Air frosts of 0 to -3°C are also anticipated across the entire territory of Ukraine on April 10 and 11. For this period, a Level II (orange) danger warning is in effect. The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center warns of hazardous weather phenomena in Kyiv Oblast and the city of Kyiv on the nights of April 10 and 11, where air temperatures could drop to -3°C. This information was reported by the publication Glavcom.

These forecasted frosts pose a significant threat to agriculture, potentially damaging early crops and blossoming plants, which increases risks for farmers. Such unseasonably cold snaps are a concern for the spring planting season. Residents in the affected regions are advised to exercise caution during nighttime hours to avoid weather-related complications. The situation requires vigilance from the public and preparedness for sudden changes in weather conditions.

As the cold weather continues to grip Ukraine, it's important to stay informed about the latest alerts. For instance, a yellow frost warning in Kyiv has been issued for the nights of April 7-9, highlighting the widespread impact of these temperature drops. Understanding the severity of these conditions can help residents better prepare for the upcoming frosts and their potential effects on agriculture and daily life.
