Lando Norris became the winner of the Dutch Grand Prix of Formula 1 after a tense battle with Andrea Kimi Antonelli. The Brit won his second consecutive race, while the home stage for Max Verstappen ended early due to a crash on a wet track. This is reported by Sport.ua.

How Lando Norris Won the Dutch Grand Prix

The key battle for victory unfolded between Norris on McLaren and Antonelli on Mercedes. At the end of the race, Lando got fresh tires, caught up with the Italian, and managed to execute a decisive overtaking maneuver.

For Norris, this victory was his second in a row after his success at the previous stage in Hungary. The third position on the podium in Zandvoort was taken by another Mercedes representative George Russell.

Six laps before the finish, the team asked Russell to let Antonelli pass. Thus, Mercedes gave the Italian a chance to try to catch up with Norris and fight for victory.

However, Antonelli couldn't maintain the lead. Norris took advantage of his fresher tires, moved ahead, and drove the race to victory.

Max Verstappen's Crash Spoiled the Home Stage in Zandvoort

One of the key episodes of the race was Max Verstappen's retirement. On the wet track, the Dutchman lost control of his car and crashed into the barrier.

For Verstappen, this crash was particularly unfortunate given the home nature of the stage. Dutch fans were left without the finish of their main favorite.

Points were also scored in the race by Nico Hülkenberg and Fernando Alonso. Liam Lawson, who returned to Red Bull for one stage, also raced in Zandvoort.

In the overall standings of Formula 1 after the stage, the first position is held by Andrea Kimi Antonelli with 242 points. George Russell and Lewis Hamilton each have 183 points.
