Latvia's Eurovision 2026 Journey Begins

Latvia has chosen its act for the Eurovision Song Contest 2026. The winner of the national selection show, Supernova, is the artist Atvara with the song 'Ēnā', which translates to 'In the Shadow'. The final, held on Saturday evening at the Riga Film Studio, featured ten competing acts. The winner was determined by a 50/50 voting system, combining the results from a professional jury and public televoting.

The group Kautkaili secured second place with their song 'Te un tagad', while Emilija came in third with 'All We Ever Had'. The event was expertly hosted by Ketija Šēnberga, Lauris Reiniks, and Māra Sleja. Eurovision is a major platform for European music, and Latvia's national final is a key event for its domestic music scene.

Latvia is not alone in preparing for the 2026 contest; other countries have also announced their participants:

  • Denmark will be represented by Sōren Torpegaard Lund with the song 'Før vi går hjem' ('Before We Go Home').
  • Estonia has selected the band Vanilla Ninja with their track 'Too Epic To Be True'.

With its representative chosen, Latvia is now set for the prestigious competition in Vienna. This selection process highlights Latvia's active role in international music events, providing a significant stage to showcase its cultural talent. As competition grows fiercer each year, participation in Eurovision remains a crucial strategy for elevating the profile of Latvian music worldwide.
