Latvia calls for increased pressure on the Russian Federation after the night shelling of Ukraine: 4 dead

Латвія закликає до посилення тиску на Росію після нічного обстрілу України: загинули 4 людини.

Latvia condemns the shelling of Ukraine

Latvia has strongly condemned the night bombing of Ukraine that occurred on January 9, calling it an act of barbarism. The Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called for increased pressure on Russia, noting that only maximum pressure on the aggressor and unwavering support for Ukraine can change the situation. As a result of the massive airstrike, four people were killed, and 25 were injured.

Consequences of the shelling

The shelling also led to serious consequences for infrastructure. In particular, 6,000 apartment buildings were left without heating. Russia is reportedly using medium-range ballistic missiles in its attacks on Ukraine, indicating an escalation of the conflict.

It is noteworthy that the strike with 'Oreshnik' in Lviv region was emblematic, as military expert Yuri Ignat pointed out. This case further emphasizes the need for international response and support for Ukraine in its fight against aggression.

This shelling is yet another evidence of the growing tension in the region and confirms the need to activate international support for Ukraine.
