Reimagined Version of 'The Kiss' Hits the Studio

Ukrainian band Dead Rooster has unveiled a newly recorded version of their iconic track 'The Kiss', laying it down at the House of Recording. This release serves as a tribute to Veronika Kozhushko, who lost her life in a Russian strike in 2024. Originally penned in 1997 with lyrics by Viktor Neborak, the song later gained international exposure as the soundtrack for the 2009 film 'Cold Souls', starring Paul Giamatti and Emily Watson.

The fresh recording took place at the House of Recording, the very studio where Dead Rooster cut their debut album 'ETO'. Alongside the single, the band has dropped a YouTube video titled 'Archive dump', featuring never-before-seen footage, including the song’s first live performance and personal home videos.

Honoring a Lost Life

With this release, the legendary track 'The Kiss' finds new purpose, celebrating its musical legacy while paying solemn respect to those who have passed.

This project underscores the need to remember individuals who have fallen victim to the ongoing conflict, showing how music can serve as a vessel for grief and solidarity. By weaving archival clips into the new video, the band invites listeners to explore their creative journey while reflecting on the difficult times their country endures.
