Ukrainian athlete Oleg Doroshchuk decided not to participate in the Diamond League stage in Monaco due to a knee injury. He announced this in an exclusive comment for 'Suspilne Sport'. Since the beginning of the summer season in 2025, Doroshchuk has only participated in competitions once, where he took second place with a result of 2.30 meters.
As a result of his knee injury, the Ukrainian decided to withdraw from participating in the Diamond League in Monaco. Although he made the list for these competitions, he plans to focus on recovery and preparing for the Ukrainian championship, which will begin on August 8.
Knee Injury and Future Plans
«My knee has been bothering me for a long time, but I didn't pay attention to it. I've always had it, where I felt slight pain in different areas, but I didn’t focus on it: after trainings, I would apply ice for a week - and that was it. It was the same with my knee. Sometimes it hurt, sometimes it didn’t. At the Diamond League stage in Rome, when I was jumping in the warm-up, I felt that something was slightly off with my knee. [...] I need to take care of myself, strengthen the ligaments. The plan is not to increase intensity, so we are starting to build the base as if from the beginning. There wasn't much time after the winter season. Maybe that all combined is what caused this.».
Return to Competitions and Plans for the 2025 World Championship
«I expect my first start [after recovery] to be at the Ukrainian championship in early August. This is also the reason why I skipped Ostrava and the team European Championship. I could have competed, but I consulted with the doctors. I decided it was better not to do that now because with such an aggravation, it could get worse».
Participation in the 2025 World Championship
«I only think about the World Championship. I just want to compete there. From the very beginning, all the work is done solely for this. Since the start of the season, I have missed many starts: Doha, Rabat, What Gravity Challenge - all to train. I can’t jump high all the time. I need to complete training volumes, and when these competitions started, we were still far from jumping. I qualify for the world championship, so I can prepare calmly. There is still time to prepare, to jump, to heal everything, to become stronger, and to compete.»
We remind you that Yaroslav Maguchikh won the team Euro-2025 in high jump.
