Mobile Operator lifecell Announces Tariff Adjustments

Ukrainian mobile operator lifecell has announced a series of changes to its tariff plans, set to take effect on February 18. The revisions include discontinuing a popular senior plan for new subscribers, raising its price for existing users, and adjusting the costs of its Maxi and Mega plans for new customers. These moves are part of a broader trend of price adjustments in the Ukrainian telecom sector.

Senior 'Turbo' Plan Discontinued and Renamed

Effective February 18, the 'Turbo' plan, designed for customers aged 60 and over, will no longer be available for new subscriptions. For current subscribers, the monthly price will increase significantly from 100 to 190 hryvnias. Starting February 19, the plan will be renamed the 'Promotional Turbo Tariff Plan.' Subscribers who do not agree to the new terms have the right to terminate their contract unilaterally within seven calendar days of receiving notification of the changes.

The discontinued Turbo plan previously included:

  • Unlimited calls within the lifecell network;
  • 1000 minutes for calls to other Ukrainian numbers;
  • 20 GB of mobile data.

Price Increases for Maxi and Mega Plans

Changes are also coming for the Maxi and Mega plans for new subscribers. The standard price for the Mega plan will rise by 50 hryvnias to 550 UAH for a 4-week period. However, identified subscribers will retain a price of 450 UAH, and those who port their number will pay 350 UAH.

The Maxi plan will also see price hikes. For customers who port their number, the cost will increase from 190 to 270 UAH (an 80 UAH rise). For identified subscribers, the price rises from 250 to 350 UAH (+100 UAH), and the standard cost jumps from 300 to 400 UAH (+100 UAH).

It's worth noting that competitor Kyivstar will raise its prices starting March 1, while Vodafone has announced changes to the cost of its 'Year Without Subscription Fee' service for a range of its plans.

Lifecell's tariff adjustments reflect a wider pattern in Ukraine's mobile market, where operators are adapting their offerings to current economic conditions and competitive pressures. Price increases may test customer loyalty, particularly among vulnerable groups like seniors. The ongoing competition between major players like Kyivstar and Vodafone is likely to drive further market shifts, making it important for consumers to stay informed about provider updates.
