Pension Updates for February 2026: Increases Announced and a Warning on Payment Suspension

Оновлення пенсій у лютому 2026 року: оголошено про підвищення та попередження щодо можливого призупинення виплат.

Pension Payment Changes for 2026

Ukrainian pensioners are receiving their February 2026 payments based on updated social standards. This follows an increase in the national minimum wage to 8,647 UAH as of January 1, 2026, which directly impacts pension guarantees. The overall minimum pension has now risen to 2,595 UAH. For pensioners aged 65 with a full work history, the minimum pension is set at 3,458.80 UAH, which is equivalent to 40% of the new minimum wage.

Age-related bonuses continue to be applied as follows:

  • Pensioners aged 70-74 receive an additional 300 UAH;
  • Those aged 75-79 receive 456 UAH;
  • Pensioners aged 80 and over receive 570 UAH.

It is important to note that these age supplements are only paid to those whose total pension does not exceed 10,340.35 UAH.

Risks and Identification Requirements

However, there is a significant risk for pensioners who did not complete a mandatory physical identification process by the end of 2025. Payments to these individuals may be suspended. Once identification is successfully completed, all withheld payments will be restored in full for the entire delay period. This verification process is a key part of ongoing reforms to the social security system.

To confirm their identity and resume pension payments, pensioners can use several methods:

  • Via a video conference with a specialist from the Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFU);
  • Through the 'Diia.Pidpys' (Diia.Signature) service in their personal account on the PFU portal;
  • In person at a PFU service center or a participating bank;
  • Or at an overseas diplomatic mission of Ukraine.

In summary, while pension payments are seeing an increase, it is crucial for recipients to comply with the identification requirements to avoid any interruption in their income. These updated social standards are designed to improve the financial situation for many Ukrainian retirees, though the necessary verification steps add a layer of administrative responsibility that requires their prompt attention.
