The Lviv city community has prepared five new bus routes, which will connect the city with the adjacent populated areas - Vynnyky, Bryukhovychi, Dublyany, and Ryasne-Ruske. The new connections are intended to improve transport accessibility and integrate communities into a single urban space. The Office of Agglomeration and Community Development reports.

According to officials, the routes were formed considering the needs of residents and the load on the existing network. Some of them are at the stage of final processing, after which the city will announce a competition for carriers.

New bus routes of the Lviv community

As part of the project, the following routes are planned:

  • Route No. 65 - will connect Vynnyky with the northern part of Lviv, running from Pid Holoskom Street through Lypynskoho, Bohdanivska, Hlynian Trakt, and Lysynychi with the final stop in Vynnyky at the ring road.

  • Route No. 67 - will connect the central part of Lviv with Bryukhovychi, running along Shevchenka and Bryukhovytska Streets.

  • Route No. 64 - will provide a connection between Ryasne-Ruske and Bryukhovychi, which is intended to improve accessibility in this direction.

  • Additional route to Dublyany - plans to connect with the Pisky area to strengthen the transportation of residents of Hrybovychi and Dublyany.

  • Route No. 90 - aims to connect the microdistrict Ryasne-1 with the village of Ryasne-Ruske and the Levandivka area.

Requirements for carriers and next steps

The head of the transport department of the Lviv City Council, Oleg Partyka, noted that new routes must ensure full integration of the adjacent communities into the urban transport system. After the legal procedures are completed, an open competition for carriers will be announced.

Among the key requirements for the transport: accessibility for persons with disabilities, presence of air conditioners, audio and visual information systems, GPS navigation and video surveillance. The ecological standard for the buses is no lower than 'Euro-4'.

It should be noted that at the beginning of February, the Lviv Regional Military Administration terminated contracts with five carriers due to violations of transportation conditions. In particular, route No. 180A to Dublyany was transferred to the competence of the Lviv City Council, as the city has been part of the Lviv territorial community since 2020.

It should be noted that in Lviv, modern low-floor buses were launched on one of the routes only.
