Born weighing 900 grams
In Lviv, doctors saved a girl named Kvitka, who was born on June 4 at the 29th week of pregnancy, weighing 900 grams and measuring 38 centimeters. After birth, the girl required respiratory support due to immature lungs. However, three weeks later, Kvitka began breathing independently, which was a significant progress in her treatment.
Kvitka's mother, Halyna, noted that it was important for them to choose a name, as they wanted something purely Ukrainian. 'We were choosing between Dzvinka and Kvitka. And we realized that Kvitka suited us best. She is as delicate as a flower, small,' shared Halyna.
Later, when Kvitka turned one month old, she was transferred to the post-intensive care unit, where she continued her treatment.
Kvitka's Progress
Over the next two months, Kvitka's weight increased to 2145 grams, and now she does not require oxygen. There have also been no episodes of apnea or desaturation observed in the girl. Halyna noted that Kvitka is gradually learning to feed herself from a bottle:
'This has been a very significant progress. I am very grateful to all the doctors. This is a tremendous collective effort. The child breathes, develops at her own pace, and gains weight. She is growing, becoming more interesting, cheerful, and smiling.' - Halyna
