Mahuchikh Triumphs at the Ukrainian Championships
Yaroslava Mahuchikh secured her first Ukrainian national high jump title in half a decade at the championships held in Lviv. The athlete cleared 2.00 meters to take the gold medal. During the competition, her main rival Iryna Gerashchenko finished second after attempting 1.90 meters but failing to convert on higher bars following an unsuccessful try at that height.
Mahuchikh started strong with a successful jump at 1.93 meters, then cleared the bar at 1.96 meters. On her third attempt, she managed 2.00 meters, marking her first clearance of that height during the outdoor portion of the 2026 season. Although she attempted 2.04 meters, the effort did not succeed. Despite this, Mahuchikh remains the season leader with a 2.03-meter result achieved earlier this year in Lviv.
