Police officer Oleksandr Kuchai passed away on July 8, 2026, from severe injuries sustained on July 4, 2026, when he triggered an explosive device in the Donetsk region. He was 52 years old. Born on July 21, 1974, in Kyiv, Kuchai began his career in law enforcement in 2000 and served with the Kyiv police from 2015 onward. In February 2023, he joined the 'Safari' assault regiment of the National Police brigade 'Liut', working as an explosives technician and holding the rank of police major.

Awards and Legacy

Throughout his service, Oleksandr Kuchai was twice awarded the honorary breastplate 'Silver Cross' by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and received the Presidential distinction 'For the Defense of Ukraine'. On duty, he demonstrated dedication, courage, and humanity, earning the respect of his colleagues.
