Army+ App Introduces Streamlined Return Process for Troops
The Army+ application has launched a fast-track mechanism for soldiers who left their units without authorization (AWOL) to return to duty. Within just a few days, nearly 200 return requests have been submitted, with 51 already approved. Service members can independently choose a new unit from a list of the most effective combat brigades within the Defense Forces.
Return Eligibility and Support Hotline
This return option applies to cases of unauthorized absence recorded before June 12, 2026. Troops can submit their return request through the Army+ app until September 20, 2026. For those considering coming back to service, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense operates a hotline at 0 800 605 100, available daily from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Detailed guidance and instructions are posted on the website szch.army.gov.ua.
Among those who have used the new system is a soldier with the call sign Hor. He selected a new unit and, after his request was approved, returned to active duty. Hor shared his experience of returning and choosing a new assignment in a video.
It is worth noting that soldiers who left their units can now return to service through a simplified procedure via the Army+ app.
Implementing this return mechanism for troops who went AWOL marks a critical step in rebuilding the combat strength of Ukraine's Armed Forces. It not only helps recover personnel but also boosts morale among service members who faced challenges during their time away. The simplified process and the freedom to pick a new unit could encourage many others to come back and continue fulfilling their duty to the country.
As the Army+ app simplifies the process for service members returning from AWOL, it's essential to understand the broader implications of this initiative. The recently launched streamlined procedures by Ukraine’s Defense Ministry not only facilitate individual returns but also aim to enhance overall military readiness. This coordinated effort underscores the commitment to reintegrating troops and strengthening the Armed Forces amidst ongoing challenges.
