How Ukrainian Business Views Anti-Corruption Engagement
Close to 88 percent of Ukrainian companies surveyed said they are willing to join collective anti-corruption initiatives tied to the country's reconstruction. The private sector shows clear interest in training, peer exchange, and jointly developing transparent operating rules. These findings come from a study prepared by Accountability Lab and the Professional Association of Corporate Governance (PACU). For international partners, the results signal that integrity-focused collaboration can gain traction in Ukraine's recovery environment.
The survey covered 118 companies from the PACU community. Business representatives took part voluntarily and anonymously, answering 19 questions. The study also drew on ten semi-structured in-depth interviews carried out between November 25 and 27.
Ways Companies Want to Work Together
Respondents expressed interest in a range of cooperation formats, including:
- sectoral meetings
- trainings
- thematic webinars
- professional peer-learning networks
- exchange of successful practices
- development of joint recommendations for recovery sectors
- platforms for dialogue among businesses, donors, and civil society organizations
The authors note that responsible companies often encounter informal practices, unpredictable regulation, extra compliance costs, and unequal competition. The research was supported by the New Democracy Fund, which is funded by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
