The 1990 holiday classic Home Alone turned Macaulay Culkin into a household name, and now the actor is pitching a comeback. Culkin, now 45, has been presenting his own idea for a sequel to the beloved family film—one that would see him reprise his iconic role as Kevin McCallister for the first time in 35 years. According to the actor's vision, an adult Kevin would find himself matching wits with his own son, who becomes his primary adversary. Talks are ongoing, but Disney has not yet officially confirmed a new movie or Culkin's involvement.

Journalist Matthew Belloni reported spotting Culkin at Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, where the actor was sharing his concept. Belloni stated: “Information came in the other day about a very intriguing sighting at Disney: Macaulay Culkin was there. He was laying out his idea for a new Home Alone, and Disney, you could say, is excited about it. They’re offering him another film. I talked to people who heard the pitch, and it’s genuinely a brilliant way to relaunch Home Alone with Macaulay Culkin.”

Possible Storyline for the New Installment

Culkin originally played Kevin in the 1990 film and its 1992 sequel, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. After those first two movies, four more were released with different actors and characters. In late 2025, the actor expressed his willingness to return and outlined his narrative: “I had this idea… I’m either a widower or divorced. I’m raising a kid, that kind of thing. I work a lot but I’m not paying enough attention, and the child starts getting angry at me, then locks me out. My son won’t let me back into the house and sets traps for me.”

No official word from Disney has come regarding the production of a seventh Home Alone film or whether Culkin will star. Nonetheless, interest in extending the franchise remains strong, and a new story centered on Kevin could resonate with modern audiences.

Bringing Macaulay Culkin back as Kevin McCallister would likely generate enormous buzz among fans of the original movies while offering a fresh take on themes like parenthood and family dynamics in today’s world. Should Disney move forward with the project, it could mark a significant step in reviving a franchise that has long been embedded in pop culture.
