An incredible incident occurred in the charming French town of Oriac when a swarm of enraged bees attacked tourists and locals. The bees, which had peacefully coexisted on the roof of the Hotel de Bordeaux for many years, suddenly turned into a serious threat to the surroundings. According to NTV Haber, 24 people were injured in the attack, three of whom are in critical condition due to allergic reactions.
«The hives on the terrace of the Grand Hôtel de Bordeaux have been there for over 10 years. Probably, Asian hornets attacked the hive, which is why the bees became aggressive. They went out onto the streets of Avenue de la République and attacked passersby,» explained the mayor of the town.
The police quickly closed off a significant area near the hotel until an experienced beekeeper eliminated the threatening insects. All the injured were taken to the hospital for medical assistance. According to local officials, a decision will be made about the future of the bees once the situation stabilizes: to evacuate them to a safe place or destroy them as a last resort.
Law enforcement representatives stated that the situation is already under control and there is no longer a threat.
This event serves as a reminder of the important role bees play in pollinating plants and improving yields. In Ukraine, up to 70% of the harvest depends on the work of bees. However, due to military actions, the number of bees in the country has significantly decreased, which may threaten agriculture.
