Odesa Targeted in Major Drone Strike
A large-scale overnight drone attack by Russian forces on Odesa has caused significant damage to educational facilities, including Kindergarten No. 14 and the Odesa Professional College of Construction and Architecture. The blast wave shattered windows and damaged interior doors at the kindergarten. The vocational college sustained the most severe damage; it had already been hit in a similar attack, which destroyed over 200 windows and damaged several specialized training laboratories.
Consequences of the Attack
In this latest strike, explosions at the college ignited a fire, which firefighters managed to extinguish quickly. The assault involved more than 50 attack drones, damaging dozens of residential buildings, a church, a fitness center, and private vehicles. Major fires broke out at several locations, complicating the emergency response across the city.
In a number of apartment blocks, dozens of flats were destroyed or damaged, with building facades scarred and windows blown out.
Oleg Kiper, a local official, stated: 'Last night, the enemy once again treacherously attacked the college. One of the best vocational schools in the city and the region has suffered significant damage.'
Despite these events, educational institutions across the Odesa region are operating remotely due to adverse weather conditions. The ongoing conflict in Ukraine has seen civilian infrastructure, including schools and hospitals, repeatedly targeted, a violation of international humanitarian law.
