Attack on Voronezh: events of January 10, 2023

On January 10, 2023, Voronezh suffered a massive drone attack, resulting in at least twenty explosions and damage to buildings and cars. The Governor of the Voronezh region, Alexander Gusev, confirmed the occurrence of the attack, which took place in various parts of the city. During the incident, a fire broke out in one of the apartments.

As a result of the attack, three residential apartment buildings were damaged, as well as one building that was still under construction. Meanwhile, on the night of January 10, two regions of the Russian Federation also experienced drone attacks. In the Volgograd region, a fire was reported at an oil refinery. The Governor of Volgograd Region, Andrey Bocharov, stated that the drone attack was repelled.

Context and Consequences

This event is part of a series of attacks that occurred earlier. In particular, on the night of December 4, 2022, explosions were heard in the Oryol region and the Stavropol Territory, and on November 2, 2022, drones attacked the Krasnodar Territory. It should be noted that these attacks have caused significant concern among the population and authorities.

The attack on Voronezh is part of the escalation of the conflict in the region, triggered by the increasing use of drones in combat operations.
