Massive Air Attack on Kyiv
On the night of January 9, Kyiv was subjected to a massive air attack, resulting in the deaths of 4 people, including a medical worker. Additionally, 24 people were injured, among them State Emergency Service workers and three medics. The attack caused significant damage in six districts of the city, including Darnytskyi, Dniprovs'kyi, Desnians'kyi, Shevchenkivs'kyi, Pechers'kyi, and Holosieivskyi.
As a result of the attack, the following were damaged:
- multi-story and private residential buildings
- kindergarten
- garage cooperatives
- cars
- other infrastructure facilities
Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko confirmed the fatalities and noted the serious consequences for the city. The city of Slavutych has found itself in a state of complete blackout, which also affected some districts of Kyiv, where there were interruptions in heating and hot water supply.
Impact of the Attack on Transportation
Additionally, changes in the operation of metro trains on the 'red' line were recorded in Kyiv, while electric transport on the left bank of the city temporarily did not operate. This attack has become yet another tragic episode in the ongoing armed conflict in Ukraine.
