On March 14, 2026, Russian forces carried out a large-scale, combined assault on Ukraine's Kyiv Oblast. The attack resulted in the deaths of at least four people, with more than ten others wounded. The strike impacted several districts, including Brovary, Vyshhorod, Obukhiv, Bila Tserkva, and Bucha.

Widespread Damage and Casualties Reported

In the city of Brovary, three people were killed and eight injured. The shelling there damaged:

  • Warehouse and industrial facilities
  • A dormitory

  • A post office

Firefighters in Brovary were also battling a blaze at an office building, while in the village of Pohreby, a restaurant roof caught fire. In the Vyshhorod district, in the village of Novi Petrivtsi, one man was killed and two people were hospitalized. There, warehouse buildings were destroyed and a cargo truck was damaged.

In the Obukhiv district, specifically in the city of Ukrainka, falling debris set the roof of a nine-story building on fire and damaged an elevator shaft. Fires also broke out in private homes in the city of Obukhiv and the village of Tarasivka. In the Bila Tserkva district, an agricultural building was damaged, and in the Bucha district, in the village of Stoyanka, a fire at a private house was extinguished.

In Kyiv, electric public transport was temporarily halted on several routes due to the aftermath of the shelling. The suspension was caused by power outages on sections of the overhead contact network. Information on the full consequences of the attack on Kyiv and the surrounding region is still being clarified, with rescue services actively working to mitigate the damage.

This assault is part of a prolonged and brutal conflict that has devastated Ukraine since Russia's full-scale invasion began in 2022. The attack underscores the ongoing vulnerability of civilian areas far from the front lines. The situation in Ukraine remains tense, and such incidents highlight the urgent need for continued international support and a resolution to the conflict. It is critical that emergency services can respond swiftly to the aftermath of attacks and provide aid to victims, while civilians receive timely safety information as the situation escalates.
