Ukrainian nuclear power plants have reduced their capacity due to a massive attack on the energy system, which is the ninth this year. This was reported by Acting Minister of Energy Artem Nekrasov at a briefing on December 23. The increase in the capacity of nuclear power plants is planned to be gradual after the damaged networks are restored.

Strikes on the infrastructure of nuclear power plants violate international nuclear safety standards and cannot go unheeded.

Russia continues to attack Ukrainian energy infrastructure, leading to emergency power outages in some regions. The President of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko reported that the western regions suffered the most damage.

Response of the President of Ukraine to Russian Attacks

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the mass shelling by Russia, which extended to the energy and civilian infrastructure of the country. According to him, Russia has used more than 650 drones, including Shahed-type drones, and about thirty missiles.

The situation with the increased threat to Ukraine's energy system requires immediate measures to protect and prevent similar attacks in the future.
