Overnight Assault on Kyiv Shuts Down Traffic on Three Major Road Segments

Нічна атака на столицю призвела до зупинки руху на трьох ключових ділянках доріг.

May 14 Attack on Kyiv

On May 14, Kyiv endured a heavy nighttime assault that caused severe disruptions. The bombardment forced the closure of multiple road sections across the city and altered the route of bus No. 19. The attack inflicted substantial damage across nine districts of the capital, including the collapse of structural elements in a nine-story residential building in the Darnytskyi district.

Traffic Restrictions Implemented

According to Kyiv's Patrol Police and the municipal transit authority Kyivpastrans, vehicle movement has been restricted on several streets and lanes. Specifically, closures are in effect on:

  • Kholodnoyarska Street – from the intersection with Sumska Street to the junction with Okhtyrska Street;
  • Okhtyrskyi Lane – from the crossing with Kholodnoyarska Street to the intersection with Mykhailo Maksymovych Street;
  • Bratstva Tarasivtsiv Street – from the junction with Revutskoho Street and Mykoly Bazhana Avenue.

As a result, bus No. 19 now operates on a modified route, passing through Okhtyrskyi Lane and Mykhailo Maksymovych Street.

During the attack, Russian forces utilized ballistic missiles and drones. The following districts came under fire:

  • Shevchenkivskyi,
  • Pecherskyi,
  • Darnytskyi,
  • Dniprovskyi,
  • Obolonskyi,
  • Solomianskyi,
  • Desnianskyi,
  • Sviatoshynskyi,
  • Holosiivskyi.

The shelling caused damage to multiple residential apartment buildings, non-residential premises, a business center, a car dealership, garages, and a parked vehicle.

In the Darnytskyi district, structural components of a nine-story apartment building collapsed, and people may be trapped beneath the rubble. Rescue teams are on-site conducting a search and recovery operation. The situation remains critical, and further updates on the attack's aftermath are still emerging.

This assault underscores the ongoing military aggression within Ukraine and its grave impact on civilian populations.

The damage inflicted on infrastructure and residential buildings highlights the escalation of the conflict and the urgent need for humanitarian aid for those affected. Emergency services are working tirelessly to locate potential victims under the debris, emphasizing the importance of swift action in crisis situations.

The impact of the recent bombardment extends beyond road closures, as critical infrastructure has also suffered. In a related incident, a metro station and several residential buildings were damaged during the same night of attacks.
