A coordinated wave of drone and missile attacks struck the Russian Federation and occupied territories on the night of March 15, causing significant infrastructure damage. These incidents occurred across a wide area, including the Krasnodar Krai, Rostov, Volgograd, and Belgorod regions, as well as the temporarily occupied part of Luhansk Oblast. In the Krasnodar Krai, a fire broke out at an oil depot on the outskirts of Tikhoretsk. The attacks also damaged two high-voltage power lines in the Tikhoretsk district. The Rostov region similarly came under a mass drone attack, as confirmed by regional governor Yuriy Slyusar, who stated his region had been targeted.
The Volgograd region sustained damage, including an apartment building struck by a drone. Simultaneously, missile attacks in Belgorod and its surrounding area damaged energy facilities. This resulted in disruptions to electricity, water, and heating supplies for parts of the Belgorod region. A fire also erupted at a facility within Belgorod city itself.
Incidents in Luhansk and Broader Consequences
In the temporarily occupied part of Luhansk Oblast, specifically in Dovzhansk, a fire and a series of explosions occurred at an ammunition depot. Reports suggest the site may have stored missiles for Russian air defense systems. These events highlight the intensifying conflict within the region and the severe consequences for local infrastructure.
These strikes are part of a marked intensification of the conflict in and around Ukraine, indicating an escalation of military activity. Damage to critical infrastructure, particularly energy facilities, poses serious risks to local populations, worsening living conditions and safety.
