Massive shelling of Kyiv on December 27, 2025

The massive shelling of Kyiv that occurred on December 27, 2025, resulted in one death and at least 27 injuries. It is known that one person died as a result of a drone strike on a building in the Dnipro district of the capital. Among the injured are children aged 9 and 16, two of whom experienced an acute stress reaction.

Combined attack and its consequences

The combined attack by the armed forces of the Russian Federation on Kyiv lasted over 11 hours and covered several districts of the city, including:

  • Holosiivskyi
  • Darnytskyi
  • Desnianskyi
  • Dniprovskyi
  • Obolon
  • Shevchenkivskyi
  • Solomianskyi

As of 11 AM, of the 27 injured, 13 people were hospitalized. The shelling caused significant destruction: multi-storey buildings, a university dormitory, and private structures were damaged. Several cars parked in the yards of damaged buildings were also destroyed.

A preliminary investigation into the war crime has been initiated under part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The investigation has been entrusted to the Main Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine in the city of Kyiv and Kyiv region.

This shelling is part of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, which continues to threaten the civilian population and the infrastructure of cities. The increase in attacks on civilian objects underscores the seriousness of the situation and the necessity of international response to human rights violations in the context of war.
