Kyiv Hit by Major Attack: One Injured, Buildings and Dozens of Cars Damaged

Kyiv came under a major assault overnight on January 20, resulting in one injury and damage to residential buildings and vehicles. As of 8:00 AM on January 20, the injured person is identified as a 59-year-old resident of the Dniprovskyi district. The blast wave damaged a multi-story apartment building and approximately twenty parked cars.

The attack also caused damage to a private house in the Darnytskyi district, where windows and a fence were broken. In the Desnianskyi district, debris from an unmanned aerial vehicle fell on cemetery grounds. Kyiv was experiencing its second air raid alert of the day, as Russia launched drones and ballistic missiles against Ukraine. Following the ballistic missile attack, power outages began in the city.

Official Response

Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal informed the IAEA Director General that Russia is preparing a new massive attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged citizens to remain vigilant in these days, emphasizing the importance of safety during such bombardments.
