Ukraine is urgently calling for a UN Security Council session and a joint meeting of the OSCE Forum for Security Cooperation and the OSCE Permanent Council. Ukrainian diplomat Sybiha emphasized the need for a firm response from the UN, OSCE, Council of Europe, and UNESCO, stating that
“the aggressor, trying to compensate for a lack of military progress on the battlefield through terror against civilians”must face decisive action.
Meanwhile, ambassadors from European Union countries have dismissed ultimatums and threats from Russia's Foreign Ministry, reaffirming their unwavering support for Ukraine. Despite the escalating situation, diplomatic missions in Kyiv have refused to evacuate and continue operating normally.
This assault on Kyiv underscores the rising tensions in the region and the critical need for a coordinated international response. The restoration of traffic in the capital reflects local authorities' efforts to resume normal life after the devastating events. The European Union's stance on backing Ukraine sends a strong signal of unity and the global community's readiness to address security threats in the region.
As the situation in Kyiv continues to evolve, the recent overnight attack that targeted key infrastructure, including damaging Hotel Ukraine, underscores the ongoing threats faced by the city. This escalation highlights the urgent need for international solidarity and a robust response to protect civilians amidst the violence.
